naughty & nice

Whoa, Christmas trees are amazing! Especially for a little guy like me who just loves bright & shiny things! I like to grab the scruffy branches and feel the cold smooth glassy red ornament balls.

I've been working on creeping. In case you're wondering, that's what comes before crawling. Dad calls me a creepy-crawly. Mom calls me a woolly-worm. (They have so many silly names for me...I'm not sure what my real name is???)

Froggie and I had a race... I won!

Does Santa really keep a list of who's naughty and who's nice? If I'm extra cute will he forget about some of the naughty stuff?

Merry Christmas Everybody!!!!

Our little angel...

He is our little angel. However, he is chockful of attitude. It is quite humorous right now but I am certain we won't find it to be very funny several months from now or especially when he hits his "wonderful two's."
He is growing so much and will be 3 months old tomorrow. That is so hard for us to believe. He has almost outgrown his little bouncy seat. Now he just gives it a hard kick and gets alot more fun out of it than the previously chilling out place. Now he knows how to make it really bounce. It is fun to watch him in this thing but it won't be much longer and he will have to move on to a new toy, as most boys do.

Of course, he has a guitar on his shirt. Some close friends of ours bought this for him since Daddy loves his guitar. It is perfect!!

Thanksgiving...

This is Xander with his sweet cousin Kendall during Thanksgiving while we were in Louisville with Jason's family. Kendall is Jason's brother's little girl. She is 2 1/2 years old and such a little mother. She was so protective of Xander and called him a "baby doll." We had a great time there despite that Jason, Xander and myself all had a nasty cold with multiple manifestations.
Actually, Jason is finally better and Xander and I are starting to come out of the woods with this thing. It is a strange one.
We hope that each and every one of you had a lovely holiday. We are so thankful for our family and our friends. We thank God for his many blessings he has given us especially giving us our adorable son.

them bones, them bones, those bag of bones..

We all took a trip to the new museum. This is the Gray Fossil Site and Museum where they have discovered fossils of red panda, badgers, tapirs, rhinoceros, alligator and a saber tooth cat. It was a fascinating little trip. My mom (mam mam) is with Stasia and Xander. Then of course Daddy is showing Xander some bones in a case and telling him all about it. He was actually very fascinated by all that he saw there. He just keeps his eyes so bright and alert all the time and takes it all in as much as he can. Of course, Mommy is the papparazzi and taking all of the pictures.

Xander's dedication Nov. 11th 2007

Well, here we are, Jason, me, my mother (Linda), Stasia (our niece), Jim and Cindy (godparents) and Xander. Xander was dedicated in church and we are so proud to lift him up to our Lord and Saviour. We can only hope that we will have the wisdom and discernment to guide him on his journey.

Mom and Dad and Xander. We love our little man soooo much.

Growing up so fast.....

Xander is so much fun. We are just having a blast with him!! He always has a smile to offer. He just talks all the time now. He even has started to giggle. One day I was driving down the road and Xander was in the back in his seat and he was just cooing up a storm to his little friend in the backseat. I never quite figured out who or what he was talking to but it made me giggle. He really has an infatuation with light and sunshine. He loves when he gets up in the morning to look out the living room window at the sunshine. He will just lay on my lap and smile as he looks out the window.
He really loves bath time too. He gets super snuggly and happy afterwards.
Xander and Daddy have a lot of fun together too. They sing and talk and Daddy taught him how to shake his rattle. Of course this is brand new and he is still mastering his coordination so that he doesn't knock himself out.
Xander is 9 weeks and 3 days old in the top and bottom pictures which were taken Monday. The bath time picture was taken a week or so ago.
He goes in for his shots on Thursday so keep the little guy in your prayers.
Xander will also be dedicated this Sunday at church in Kingsport at Grace Fellowship at the 10:45am. service. We are so blessed and so excited to see what God has in store for our little man.

Take me out to the ball park..

This was the very first outfit that I purchased the moment we found out we were having a boy. It says, "Daddy's Little Slugger." I couldn't resist since Jason is from Louisville. Sorry Grandy, I know you are a Cardinals fan but he hasn't grown into those outfits yet. Anyway, Xander is 7 weeks and 5 days old in this picture. We just took it this morning right before nap time. He is so sweet and smiling now and he is so aware of everything around him.

In the next picture is a little travel gym that he loves but we have another thing we can put over him to look at that sings in languages from around the world. That is his favorite. Thanks for loaning it to us Uncle Jon and Aunt Kasi. It really makes him smile and coo.

We just cannot believe that he will be 2 months old on Halloween. Where does the time go? He is also starting to discover his thumb. Uh oh..
Xander has such a sweet spirit. Yes.. we are biased but he truly does.
Jason's shift finally ended also and we are back on track again and rested. So thank all of you for your prayers and for lifting us up. We love you.

Happy Halloween everyone!!!!!

Have a safe and fun holiday season this month!!

Trick or Treat... give me some yummy milk to eat!
I am not really a monster. I am an angel but you can't really dress up boys as angels. It just doesn't work out just right.

The best in the pumpkin patch

Okay.. so Mommy gets a little carried away sometimes. This is to be expected right?!?
We just wanted to wish everyone a safe and Happy Harvest Season and a Happy Halloween.
We have some more pics to come.

I am growing up so fast

Can you believe that I am 5 1/2 weeks old already? Mommy and Daddy say that I am changing every day. My grandma's just cannot believe that I have gained so much weight. Hey.. I am a growing boy. Isn't that what I am supposed to do. Mommy says that I am having a growth spurt lately. (Whatever that is) Anyway all I know is that it must be time for me to eat again. I feel my tummy rumbling. Waaahhhhh!!!!
peace out.. Xander aka little buddy, little man, x-man, sugar bear, traveler, houdini, gosh.. what is my real name anyway?

Our little boy is growing well..

Are we madly in love with Xander or what? Can you just see that Daddy is ooozing with love?
Well, we are also proud parents of our growing little boy. Xander started out at 6lbs. 3oz. and 18 in. long. He left the hospital at 5lbs and 12oz. But as of his one month check up and yes.. he is one month old already. Whew time flies when you aren't sleeping! Anyway X-man is now 8lbs and 7oz. and 21 1/4 in. long. Milk does a body good..ooops.. I did borrow that slogan, I cannot remember who it belongs to, can you?
Yes. I may be a bit delirious but we are doing well. We are starting to find our rhythm and establish a little system around the home front. We love being parents!
Please keep us in your prayers though. Jason has to work straight through until the 17th of this month. So we will be even more exhausted I am sure. I just worry about him having to start a shift exhausted. He is a worry-wart and he worries about Xander and me of course and my emotions and fatigue. God has been such a blessing to get us through it this far. We have had meals provided to us for 3 weeks. I cannot begin to tell you what that has meant to us and we thank all of you for being a part of that.
As for our friends, we will be back in the circuit again one day in the very near future. We miss all of you and hope to get connected again soon.
For our family, we love you all very much and we are just so thankful for the internet and the world wide web so that we can keep in touch and keep everyone updated that cannot be here to share this precious time with us. We hope that virtual sharing will keep us connected until we can see each other face to face.
My favorite quote is by Emile Zola, " I am here to live out loud."
I think Xander has already adopted the quote for his own.
Keep dreaming.. Mitzi, Jason and Xander.

Xander's first trip to Bays Mountain Park

Can we say "over-stimulation?"
Poor little guy was so enthralled by the new things he was seeing at the park, like trees, birds, etc.. that he stayed awake on this night for almost 6 hours. Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy didn't get much rest that evening. We thought he would take a nap in his stroller. However, we were poorly mistaken. He is so alert and has to take in his environment.
He is focusing in on things much more so now and so he is always in observation mode. We have to keep his new experiences at a minimum right now so he can still manage his naps. Otherwise, this precious, laid back little bundle gets a bit cranky.
He is so much fun to watch though and his expressions are great!
It was so neat to watch him take in the trees overhead from his stroller. He got a bit restless so we got him out of the stroller and started his first nature lesson, thus his first siting of a falcon.

Xander in his first bike helmet

Well, it is amazing that over two weeks have flown by us already. Xander is growing so quickly and getting cute little chubby cheeks. Here are some recent photos of him in a bike helmet. A friend of ours took the pics over the weekend. We couldn't resist sharing them with you.

We have been enjoying every minute of parenthood, sleepless nights and all. It is certainly worth every minute of rest lost because it is a minute of bliss gained. Of course, realistically it isn't always easy but it is always worth the journey.

We have also discovered that Xander loves to have his hair done. Yikes! Notice his sweet, peaceful demeanor right after having his hair blown dry. We have a salon kid. That could get expensive. Hair gel anyone?

He is still a little big for his swing and needs some support but he truly seems to enjoy being in there.

We love all of you and will continue to stay updated with more photos as he grows. Hopefully so much time will not pass in between takes.

Xander is one week old...

Well Xander had his first drum lesson with Daddy. He is bright-eyed and taking it all in.
Our sweet little boy has just graced us with his presence and we are truly overcome by the love that God has put in our hearts for him. He has the sweetest expressions.
I have to steal all my kisses now before the day comes when he doesn't want them anymore, or rather when Mommy embarrasses him when she wants a kiss "hello" or "goodbye."
And.. yes we do have to blow dry his hair. And it relentlessly sticks straight up. At least he is in style with the hair for now, maybe we just need to add a little gel and do a faux-hawk.
He is a very alert little man. He follows every sound with his eyes. It is so cool to watch.
Daddy and Xander also like to hang out in the Bjorn alot. He is Daddy's little buddy.

Xander's Birthday Party!!! (look at that hair!)

The question burning in everybody's mind..."Is Xander the fifth member of the Beatles??"

We are thrilled to announce that Xander Joseph Pierce was born at 2:51pm on Friday Aug 31st. He was 6 lbs, 3 oz and 18" long with a FULL head of shaggy black hair. He is absolutely adorable...and the sweetest, most innocent little baby we've seen (we are more than a little biased!)

We just got from the hospital today and are getting adjusted to our new routines and trying to figure out to how to feed the little guy.

Here's some pictures from his first days...
